Hi Reader,

Yeah! I'm finally home again in sunny central Illinois! Which, looking at the state of my garden, has been VERY sunny these past few weeks. 🌞 Are you feeling the heat too?

Getting back into the swing of things here is hugely helped by some super notes I received after last week's letter. The encouraging, strategic, and creative ideas shared for making kind fabrics even more accessible for designers and makers, are amazing fuel for the journey! Thank You!

So ... watch this space! I'm feeling encouraged, inspired and more convinced than ever that small ideas shared by a community can grow into a great impact for good. Thank you for being part of this journey with me. It really does mean a lot. 🙌🥰🙌

Travel in twos!

One thing travels remind me of is how much perspective they bring. As any good Beatles fan can tell, Back in the U.S.S.R. has been playing in my head ever since I landed!

Over the years I've done plenty of solo travel, and honestly love it. Travelling alone is full of random choices that lead to fascinating people, unexpected stories, and finding myself in 'experiences' - fun and not-so - that can change me.

But this trip also reminded me how special it is to journey with someone else. The right travel buddy doesn't reduce the adventure, they increase it. The conversations continue long after leaving the exhibition, or boarding a train. You notice different things, laugh at different moments, and somehow the memories become richer because they're shared.

Chatting with Ngaire at our booth in Brussels, sharing the city's wild station stops with Sarah, driving through the Welsh countryside with my mum, sharing great family meals, dancing, nature walks, and so much more! We come away from exactly the same scenario with completely different observations and memories.

Like the Brussels metro stop inspired by marbles! It took me back to textiles designed when I was at art college, and had Sarah scouting this one, and more, for potential photo shoots! The best journeys, and ideas, are rarely built from just one perspective.

Journey together.

It may be an obvious metaphor for many life choices, but you and I meet here because we're concerned about the bigger journey towards a more ethically and environmentally sustainable future. We often think of it as an individual responsibility, but it's so much more enjoyable, and so much more powerful, when we journey together. Every conversation, question, and reflection nudges us a little further in the right direction. Just like the responses to my disappointment last week. Thanks again. 😘
