Hi Reader,

You know me ... it's rare that I feel even a little bit down, and am even less likely to share it, but honestly ... I need to. This letter's not all doom and gloom - I promise 😘 But it seems clouds are doing a great job in keeping their silver linings to themselves these days!

What happened?

After the fabulous blur of Brussels, it was time to hop over to the UK for a wee break with family and friends, and follow up with all the wonderful people we met at the Future Fabrics Expo. Especially those interested in our Kind Fabric Course and creating custom fair trade, handmade fabrics. As any solopreneur knows, we're rarely in a place to take 'leave'. For key reasons my focus shifted and momentum had to slow.

All's well, but now I'm faced with a conundrum. The Kind Fabric Course still has only 1, maybe 2 participants signed up.

Was it because I had to take my foot off the 'promo pedal'?

Or, is it really that people are just not willing/able, in spite of interest, to invest in what, IMO, is the most holistically sustainable fabric sourcing option for any designer's collection or project?

Or, am I just really bad at marketing?

Or, ...?

I honestly don't know🤷‍♀️ - and really would appreciate your honest input with any thoughts, of any kind! My heart vision is simply twofold:

for us as designers and makers to use our skills as creative problem solvers, addressing issues in our respective fields.
to ensure the ancient textile skills of Bangladesh - and elsewhere - are embraced as a modern day solution for ethically and environmentally sound fabric production.
